My registration key does not work
Often times registration codes are very difficult to re-create by typing. It
is possible that this simple copy and paste function will work for you. The
registration code you have received is very sensitive. What this means is
that your registration information would need to be entered exactly the same
way for the product to work.
You may want to try to copy and paste the registration information into the
fields of the program that prompt you for the code. The way to do this is to
highlight the registration code with your mouse from the email message with
your code in it. Then right click your mouse, you will get a pop up menu that
gives you the option to "copy". Choose this option to copy.
Now, click the cursor into the registration code field in the screen saver and
then right click to choose the option to "paste". This function should move
the information from the email message with the code in it to the registration
field of program without you typing anything at all.
If you are not given the option to copy and paste from your right mouse
button, you may also try to use the key codes to copy and paste. To copy all
you need to do is highlight the text you want to copy, and then press the
CNTRL key and the C key at the same time. To paste you need simply use the
CNTRL key and the V key at the same time. This will do essentially the same
as the mouse click method.
I can not copy to the CD-RW (only version 1 and 2)
You need DirectCD or InCD or another packet writing program, if you wish to backup
direct to a rewritable CD. The program is normally delivered together with a CD-RW
device. Can you copy to the CD Drive from the explorer? if you have DirectCD from Roxio
installed that should be possible. If not make sure the CD-RW is formatted for use
with DirectCD.
If you have Zip Backup to CD version 3 you do not need a packet writing program,
as it writes direct to CD-RW and CD-R without any third party program.
If you can not copy to the CD drive from the explorer then Zip Backup to CD can
not write direct to the CD. If you do not have the DirectCD installed you would
have to create the file on your hard disk and then burn it to CD.
When the space on the hard disk is used the program will ask you to make space
for the next file, leave the program and burn the created files to a CD's and
when finished delete the files from the hard disk and go to Zip Backup to CD and
say OK and it will continue creating files.
How to mark all files for restore
When you are in the file list press CTRL+A to mark all files, clicking on any
file in the list while holding down the CTRL key will mark unmark the file without
changing the rest of the selections. Marking a file and the browse down to a new
file and holding down the SHIFT key will mark all files between the first selection
and the next selection. You can also use the space bar instead of clicking with
the mouse.
Will the program span the backup over more CD's
Zip Backup to CD will span the backup over as many zip files of the size
specified by the user, as necessary. Version 3 will also allow splitting large
files (up to 2GB) over more zip files.
Can the files be saved in the sorted order
Yes, disable "Optimise used space" in the backup menu.
When the optimise space is disabled the files are saved in alphabetic order,
but if you have files which after compression are very big, you may lose a lot
of space.
How to change the drive and folder used for temporary files
To Change the Temp path open the zipbakup.ini file and change the
[Files]
TempPath=C:\Temp\
to a disk with more free space.
Can Zip Backup to CD run in the background, idle priority
The program will always use all the available resources, but if you minimize
the program it will change to idle priority, which should let all other
running programs get priority to the processor resources, but the processor
load will still be near to 100 as the program will use all available
resources. Please not that version 3 have a build in CD/DVD burner which
during the burning process always will run at a high priority. To use the PC
during the burning process you have to select a low burning speed.
How to uninstall the program
Zip Backup to CD, does not place files in other places as the installation folder. The installation folder is normally:
C:\Program files\Datahjaelp\Zip Backup to CD\
It does not make changes in the registry which affect other programs. Which means that you can manually remove the program in the following way:
1. Open Zip Backup to CD and make sure that "Start Automatic" in the "Files" menu are not checked. If it is checked uncheck it.
2. Close the program using the "Files" menu "Exit".
3. Use the Remove install in Windows to uninstall the program.
4. Delete the files in the installation folder.
The program is now removed from the computer. If you have troubles with the Windows uninstall, delete all the files in the installation folder and install the program again and try the 4 steps above.
